A bat mitzvah can be a life-changing event for a young lady. So when Denver’s Affair with Flair received the call to put together such an event at History Colorado Center in Denver, co-owners Leslie Heins and Lisa Cook knew there would be high expectations. Without hesitation, Affair with Flair began work by creating the theme “Fast Forward to the Future.”

Inspiration
Everyone who hires Affair with Flair for an event begins the planning process with an initial consultation meeting. During this meeting, they go through an event concept form, developed specifically to get ideas flowing. While discussing numerous options and asking even more questions, the overall theme-this time futuristic-starts to take shape.

Details
From the moment guests entered History Colorado Center, they knew they were in for an exciting evening. Adults were escorted to the fourth floor for cocktails, feeling as if they were stepping into the past with historic touches placed around the room, including whiskey barrels turned into cocktail tables topped with arrangements of wildflowers. Meanwhile, children were ushered into the venue’s foyer, adjacent to the ballroom. After cocktails, adults were asked to “Fast Forward to the Future” by walking through a pathway framed with futuristic drapes and riding an elevator to the main level.

Table designs featured turquoise spandex-based linen, finished with a white spandex cap. Rising from the center of the table was a towering acrylic pedestal perched atop a square glowing box, its structure elevating a mirrored acrylic chandelier accented with suspended glass orbs casting glowing light across the room.

Table numbers were also made out of clear acrylic, and miniature Slinkys wrapped around glasses with famous quotes printed inside. Coordinating with the chairs was silverware enveloped in 5-inch silver metallic honeycomb ribbon. Silver metal flowers were perched at the base of the arrangement for an innovative touch, and three to four butterfly votives- reflecting a blue glow- were placed around the base of the structure to reinforce a high-tech feel. The entire table was illuminated as it glowed from a blue LED light placed within. The foyer room for children had long rectangular tables and perforated metal place mats with geometric squares. Vases with a single metal flower were wrapped in slim strands of glowing rope.

An elaborate dessert display was presented on rolling wire racks. Included in the display were assorted petite cookies on sticks, caramel apple wedges on sticks and cake pops.
