Attention to detail is what won this tablescape the award for “Best Use of Theme” at the International Special Events Society (ISES) Denver Chapter’s Wedding Showcase 2011.
“Abbott Artistics engraved wine bottles and glasses to personalize our table; they looked spectacular and everyone commented that they loved the fact we had three bottles of wine on our table because that was a true fantasy,” says Julia Kaaren, owner of Mulberries Flowers in Lakewood.
The event’s theme was tradition with a twist, and the British designer found herself swept up in regal affairs.
Inspiration
Kaaren’s muse was the royal wedding, and she saw the event’s theme as being perfectly complimentary to her “Royal Romance” design. She said, “The royal family is of course an institution unto itself, and the ‘new’ royals are definitely putting a twist on the old traditions.”
The Details
Kaaren ordered flowers from all over the world and spent the week prior to the competition, running around town, inspecting flowers and selecting the crème de la crème. Orchids and peonies were chosen as a twist on the roses that usually accompany a royal affair. They were accented with crystals and gems, but modernized with wire accents and contained lighting aspects.
