Just as we are putting the finishing touches on a feature story about ways groups can tap into Cool Colorado Summers, a notice about Denver Botanic Gardens’ Garden Grapes and Hops garden party on June 7 hits my inbox. Could we maybe just jump to summer right now? March is usually flip flops one minute, ski goggles the next! Warm days, one after another, are sounding pretty good.

The challenge with fundraising events like Garden Grapes and Hops is how to make the most money possible in exchange for all the hard work and costs. I like the VIP options added to this event. For an extra Andrew Jackson ($20), you get access to a VIP Preview Party from 5 – 6:30 p.m. before the door opens for general admission from 6:30 – 10 p.m. ($60 if purchased before the event). Plus, there is an indoor VIP Lounge from 8 – 10 p.m.

This festive summer evening features live music along with all-you-can-eat food and drink samples from nearly 20 local restaurants, along with 15 Colorado breweries and wineries. Admission to the gardens also is included.

Two other features I also like is offering designated driver tickets for $30 and providing a taxi stand for those who would be best off not driving home. The gardens will call a taxi and let you leave a vehicle in the parking garage and pick it up the next day. Take a taxi and receive one free general admission pass. Plus, there is an RTD bus stop and B-Cycle station at the Denver Botanic Gardens. So you could realistically bike to the event and take a taxi or bus out if needed.

Tickets can be purchased online until June 7. There will be 100 adult general tickets available at the door on the night of the event for $75 each. Speaking of gardens, time to start planning yours for this season!
