More than 6,000 attendees representing at least 70 countries gathered in Denver from May 19-23 for the U.S. Travel Association’s IPW, the travel industry’s premier international marketplace. Denver last hosted IPW 27 years ago, and this one was particularly special since it marked the showcase’s 50th anniversary.
Approximately 480 representatives of the meetings and events industry gathered on March 12 at Denver Place in downtown Denver to celebrate the 12th annual Colorado Meetings + Events Best of 2018 readers’ choice awards and Hall of Fame induction. The Organization: PCs for People is headquartered in Minneapolis and recently opened a Denver office. The nonprofit organization refurbishes and recycles computer equipment from businesses, individuals and government agencies and provides them at little or no cost to families that could not afford them otherwise. Colorado is known as the state of craft beer, but it also has the most distilleries per capita in the country, the oldest craft distillers and some of the most innovative spirits being created. So it should come as no surprise that the first-ever Hearts & Trails Spirits Festival was held on Feb. 24 at Denver’s Mile High Station to highlight some of the state’s finest spirit artisans and celebrate the launch of the Colorado Spirits Trail.
— 1.5 oz. Absolut Elyx Vodka
— 0.5 oz. St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur
— 1 oz. fresh grenadine
— 0.75 oz. fresh-squeezed lemon juice
— 5 drops Peychaud’s Bitters
— 2.5 oz. Domaine Chandon sparkling wine (in carafe)

— 2 cups Breckenridge Gin
— 1/2 cup Dolin Blanc Vermouth (do not substitute another dry vermouth, but if necessary use Lillet Blanc)
— 2 cups Teakoe’s Kodiak Mountain Mint Tea (prepared from tea bags)
— 1 cup lavender syrup*
— 1 cup fresh lemon juice (fresh squeezed the day punch is made)
Combine, stir and serve chilled over ice with a lemon slice and thyme sprig. Serves eight people with two full servings each
