Denver is getting ready to roll out the red carpet for the International Live Events Association’s annual conference ILEA Live this summer at Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel. Colorado Meetings + Events is proud to be the media sponsor for this year’s conference, and we are looking forward to seeing many of our Colorado colleagues and meeting new people from across the world.

Two highlights are an opening reception focusing on “Cosmopolitan Colorado” at History Colorado Center on Aug. 16 from 7–10 p.m. and the Esprit Awards Gala “Pure Elegance” at Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum on Aug. 17 from 6 p.m. to midnight. A new addition to this year’s schedule are extra workshops on a variety of topics on the first day of the conference. Returning this year is the Tech Hub featuring technology companies with a product or service of interest to live events professionals.

The gathering is an educational and collaborative experience for event professionals and involves the talents of ILEA Denver Chapter members to provide a warm Colorado welcome.

Education

Interactive education is the focus this year through several unique learning formats and the following tracks, which are part of the conference registration.

Honing Your Craft

Taking a day-to-day role to the next level means focusing on your ability to innovate and create for clients, isn’t just about understanding the logistics of producing events. Sessions in this track will cover storytelling to enhance your work, event venue opportunities, organizational creativity and emerging technologies.

Inspiration & Trends

The goal of this track is to help event pros work toward the future to remain a few steps ahead and plug into trends in food and beverage, the experience economy and technology.

Business Owner Strategies

Sessions in this track will cover sales and marketing trends, human resource solutions, and people management best practices.

In-Depth Workshops

Work with peers on skill sets like running a business, the creative process and the important concepts of building relationships and collaboration. These sessions have attendance caps and require an additional cost.

Event Wars, Extreme Production Challenge

How do you ensure that multiple vendors are on the same page and can come together to execute the vision on time and on budget? Lead facilitators set the path for creating a production schedule using dynamic visuals and real-life examples. This fun, hands-on session involves team collaboration and group discussion.

Solutions Marketplace: A Haute Dokimazo Concept

This session will crowdsource the challenges participants are facing right now and match attendees who have solved these obstacles for their businesses to create a true peer-to-peer conversation. Facilitators from innovative event concept Haute Dokimazo are co-creating an agenda to address exactly what's on attendees minds.

Chopped Kitchen Challenge

Teams of attendees, along with a professional chef from the Sheraton Denver, will plan and execute a menu. Each team receives a mystery box containing an assortment of ingredients and is asked to create an appetizer, entrée and signature cocktail. This is a competition, with winners announced at the end of the workshop.

Management Peer Group

Join other owners for a workshop centered on addressing the trends and challenges affecting small businesses today. From diversity and inclusion to pricing strategies, hear short presentations on each topic followed by ample time for group discussion and solution sharing. This workshop will tee up conversations for the days ahead and networking connections well after the event.

Creative Super Heroes Have No Box

Event creatives (the people and agencies) are often asked to come up with creative, out-of-the-box ideas that have never been seen before via a paper or e-RFP without a conversation. An event meant to deliver on objectives in a purposeful and innovative manner starts with creative ideas rooted in collaboration, trust and an understanding of a client’s culture and appetite for experience creation. This workshop explores the topics of how trust is built, visual tools that best tell a creative story, and how ideas and inspiration are discovered.

I hope to see you at ILEA Live in Denver this August!

The family-focused, Wisconsin-based Great Wolf Lodge opened its first resort in Wisconsin Dells in 1997. Over the next two decades, it slowly expanded with more properties around the Midwest, moving into the Northeast, South, West and Canada. And this summer, the greater Chicago area will get its first resort from the brand.

To give guests a top-of-the-line meeting and events experience, Lion Square Lodge, managed by Wyndham Vacation Rentals, has announced the start of a $1.25 million renovation of its meeting space. The project will include significant upgrades and design enhancements that embrace the property’s rustic lodge atmosphere and stunning surrounding scenery.

The Hilton Denver Inverness, a 302-room hotel, resort and conference center located in the Englewood neighborhood of Denver, CO, announced a new partnership with Audio Visual Management Solutions (AVMS), an audiovisual company providing audio, video, lighting and staging solutions for meetings and conference spaces.
