The 16th annual Meetings Industry Council of Colorado Educational Conference & Trade Show once again broke attendance records and was held on March 17 at Denver’s Colorado Convention Center. An opening educational event for meeting planners and reception kicked off the event on March 16. Next year’s conference date is March 15, 2017.
The timing was supreme, hosting the 10th annual Best of Colorado on the Denver Broncos’ indoor training field at UCHealth Training Center on March 15, only a month after the team landed a Super Bowl victory. A sellout crowd viewed three floors of space, saluted the winners, and enjoyed stellar food by Biscuits and Berries, entertainment by 5 Star Talent and Entertainment, and décor by Eclectic Hive. This weekend is the annual Uptown Art Fair. The three-day event features professional artwork in 12 different types of media, including ceramics, painting, jewelry and more. 350-plus artists from around the world will feature their artwork along Lake Street and Hennepin Avenue.
Hosting an International Live Events Association Denver Chapter meeting in Colorado Springs, a longtime vision of board member Tami Forero, became a reality in November as more than 60 event pros gathered at the historic Colorado Springs School for drinks from Sovereignty Wines, dinner by Garden of the Gods Gourmet Catering & Events and a presentation about networking and building relationships.
Members of the National Association of Catering & Events Denver showed up in force to display their skill in milking a cow, tossing flapjacks and more during the return of Catering Olympics in November at Fashion Design Center in Denver. Colorado Teambuilding Events and Occasions Catering were the masterminds behind the games and cuisine.
For its 13th annual Customer Appreciation Event, Destination Colorado put a new lens on with a Photo Safari held in Estes Park. An evening reception was hosted by The Stanley Hotel, followed by breakfast hosted by the YMCA of the Rockies and Estes Park, a photo safari in Rocky Mountain National Park (with tips and tricks provided earlier by Erik Stensland), box lunches sponsored by the Rocky Mountain Park Inn and Boulder CVB, and 100th Birthday party for the park at Prospect Inn on the following day.
Meeting Professionals International Rocky Mountain Chapter (MPIRMC) gathered at the Pinnacle Club by Grand Hyatt Denver to celebrate the year’s accomplishments. MPIRMC 360°, the theme of the night, was inspired by the spectacular views from the Pinnacle Club, and the 150 guests dressed in Rocky Mountain chic attire.
The National Association of Catering and Events and Rocky Mountain Professional Convention Management had a “Just Between Friends” meeting on April 9 at the Marriott City Center in Denver. A panel of industry experts from both chapters discussed planner and supplier communication.
ISES Denver members were sent on a mobile device scavenger hunt organized by Colorado Teambuilding Events in downtown Denver in May. Teams used GPS beacons and QR codes to complete location challeng - es, capture photos and videos, answer trivia and engage in freestyle texting.
