Denver’s Sage Hospitality has named Brandon Hendricks the area director of sales and marketing overseeing Oxford Hotel and the new Union Station hotel, scheduled to open in July of next year.

“This is a very exciting time for Sage and The Oxford and we are thrilled to have Brandon steering our sales team,” said Oxford General Manager Afsi Bird. “His extensive luxury background and strong leadership skills will be extremely beneficial in continuing The Oxford’s strong presence as a unique downtown Denver property.”

Recently, the building has been used by Four Winds Interactive, the leader in digital signage, but with the generation of 147 jobs from 2008-2011 they outgrew the Parkside Mansion. Four Winds Interactive recently updated the building’s technology and now uses it as an off-site meeting space, offering booking of corporate events, weddings and gatherings.

Sage’s Select Service division currently offers 32 hotels in its portfolio after an expansion of 12 new hotels in the Ohio area.

The Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa at Beaver Creek Mountain has complted an $875,000 expansion of its meeting options offerings planners 7,500 square feet of unique event space.

Part of this addition includes the Westin Riverfront's Gondola Ballroom, a room that opens onto the Gondola Plaza and is located next to the resort's ski valet and Riverfront Express Gondola. The space accommodates up to 275 people and is built with outdoor luncheons, receptions and teambuilding in mind.

During the summer, A-Basin Ski Area began construction on Black Mountain Express, a new detachable quad chairlift that is scheduled to be up and running for the 2010-11 ski season. Black Mountain Express will have a capacity of 2,000 people per hour, a length of 2,877 feet and have a vertical rise of 719 feet.

The Westin Westminster has installed a state-of-the-art solar panel system to help provide power to the 369-room hotel.

The solar panels, which are scheduled to be installed next month on the roof of the hotel, will produce 42,576 kilowatt-hours per year--the equivalent to planting more than 192 trees annually.

The Westin Westminster has applied to receive a grant from the federal government and a solar rebate from Xcel Energy, making it the first hotel in Colorado to take advantage of these programs.

Hawk previously served Related Westpac of Snowmass Village as general manager, responsible for vacation rental property management and commercial building operations management. He had direct oversight of two hotels, a 15,000-square-foot conference center, 300 rental properties, both condominium and private residences and the main village shopping center.

As of March 1, 2010, the new company will be called HPN Global. Each company will operate independently until that date. This joint venture will provide bespoke site selection and meeting planning services to corporate, association and government clients worldwide.

The U.S. Travel Association has announced that projected modest 2010 increases in leisure, business and international inbound travel will enable the industry to add nearly 90,000 American jobs.

Leisure travel is expected to rise 2.0 percent, business travel is projected to increase by 2.5 percent and international inbound travel will increase by nearly 3.0 percent. These job gains come on the heels of 400,000 combined travel industry job losses in 2008 and 2009.
