The first ever dual-branded hotel by AC Hotels and Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts will open in Denver during summer 2017.

"Hotel projects like this are forging new frontiers in the global hospitality industry, and we are proud that Downtown Denver was chosen as the home for this investment,” says Tami Door, president and CEO for the Downtown Denver Partnership. “This project reflects the strength of our market which has seen annual growth over the past five years."

The AC Hotels by Marriott property, known for their classic-modern designs, is new to the US, and will be the brand’s first to open in Denver.

"Denver has experienced tremendous growth over the last few years, becoming a world-class destination, where demand is strong for two world-class lifestyle hotel offerings unlike anything the city has seen before,” says Paul Eckert, dual general manager. “We're honored to be able to steward the introduction of two truly experiential brands and a different level of hospitality to the city."

The dual hotels will have 495 rooms, 12,000-square-feet of meeting space and four restaurants. Le Méridien will feature 272 of those rooms and will also have a full-service restaurant, fitness center and more.

"We are delighted to expand our partnership with White Lodging to introduce Le Méridien to Denver in 2017," says Brian Povinelli, global brand leader, Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts. "We have made significant investments to develop the brand, which connects with guests through the art, culture and cuisine in key cities around the world. We think these passion points are sure to resonate with Denver visitors and local residents alike."

With the entrance and lobby of the AC Hotels on 15th Street, and the entrance and lobby of the Le Méridien on California St., the dual-branded hotel will offer the best of both worlds and an experience unlike anything else.

"We are proud to bring AC Hotels' European soul, modern design and entrepreneurial spirit to Denver, we look forward to being an integral part of the Mile-High City's cultural fabric," says Benoit Racle, global brand director, AC Hotels. "Our rapidly growing portfolio of design-led hotels illustrates Marriott International's commitment to making distinctive architecture and design affordable and accessible for creatives and entrepreneurial spirits around the world."

It’s that time of year when groups are readying plans for holiday events, and employers are looking at how to celebrate their teams. In the fall 2022 issue of Colorado Meetings + Events, we looked at the state of holiday gatherings and found that they indeed are on the rebound. Some gatherings are going big after two years of not getting together or generally scaling back, while others are opting for in-office parties, small dinners, or community service projects.

Colorado has 58 mountain peaks exceeding 14,000 feet, known locally as “fourteeners” or “14ers.” This is more than any other state and includes the 14,115-foot Pikes Peak, where standing at the summit in 1893 inspired Katharine Lee Bates to write the poem “America” that today is known as the song “America the Beautiful.”
