Sarasota County will see the addition of 1,112 new hotel rooms over the next two years. These new accommodations will largely fall within walking distance of downtown Sarasota and the dining, arts and scenery that it offers.
From June 8-10, Associated Luxury Hotels International held its 12th Annual Executive Women in Leadership Conference at Hotel del Coronado in San Diego/Coronado California. ALHI is a leading independent Global Sales Organization in the Meetings & Incentive industry, from which they hosted 65 senior level women executives in the meetings and hospitalities industries. These women included hotel executives and meeting professionals.
The remodel that began in fall 2016 has been completed at the Courtyard by Marriott Denver Downtown. In celebration of the renovation, the hotel and Wynkoop Brewing Co. have partnered to offer guests exclusive access to the historic LoDo brewery.

The Residence Inn Breckenridge is officially opened on Dec. 15. Featuring 360-degree views of the mountains, the 129-room hotel will be managed by Urgo Hotels & Resorts.

Omni Hotels & Resorts is announcing new developments for the hotel. The 16-story hotel is set to open in June 2017, showcasing 300 guest rooms and suites, and 24,000 square-feet of meeting space, including a 13,000-square-foot ballroom. Additionally, Omni Hotels & Resorts has appointed Gayla Guyse as director of sales and marketing for the Omni Frisco Hotel. Guyse has 20 years of experience working for the Omni Frisco Hotel.
The Westin Galleria Dallas has completed a multimillion-dollar renovation to the property. Every inch of the hotel has been updated, including the 448 guest rooms and 10 suites, the lobby, the 54,000-square-feet of meeting space and the hotel’s restaurant.
There are several recent renovations and new hotels being introduced in Colorado. Here is just a sampling inspired by attending the Under the Big Top event held at Hotel Boulderado in downtown Boulder on Sept. 28 to showcase the completed first phase if the historic hotel’s renovation, which included 114 of the 160 guest rooms, 10,000 square feet of meeting and event space, and the outdoor plaza.
Following their merger, Benchmark Hospitality International and Gemstone Hotels & Resorts have created a new name and corporate identity for themselves. They will be known as Benchmark, a global hospitality company that has more than 70 hotels, resorts and conference centers, 8,000 guest rooms and 10,000 employees.
