We’ve mentioned the new Outlaw Mountain Coaster introduced at Steamboat Ski Resort in 2017, and now there are new alpine coasters debuting at Copper Mountain Resort, Purgatory Resort and Snowmass. These fairly mild but super scenic thrill rides are great for meeting breaks!

Winter Park Express, the train from Denver Union Station to Winter Park that reopened in January 2017, is expanding service to select first Fridays of three winter months. In 2018, the train will run every weekend from Jan. 5 to March 25 with additional Friday service on Jan. 5, Feb. 2 and March 2. 

Ouray Hot Springs in the southwest Colorado mountain town of Ouray has undergone a $10.6 million renovation and recently unveiled the finished product in time for the springs’ 90th birthday. Some of the many improvements include new shallow and hot sections, an over - look, activity pool, slides and lighting.

Ski Cooper near Leadville is introducing Moonlight Mountaintop Yurt Dinners this win - ter. Offered the first Saturday of the month from January through April, guests are shuttled in a warm snowcat up the mountain to a gourmet feast in Ski Cooper’s yurt. 


San Francisco artist-DJ-entrepreneur Paul Hemming has opened his second Zen Compound in the former City Hall event venue at 1144 Broadway St. in Denver. Zen Compound melds four distinct but related concepts into a single space: ECO-SYSTM, a co-working space for artists and musicians; Mirus, a gallery hanging cre - ations by local and internationally known artists; Hive, a unique coffee bar; and Temple Nightclub.

Launched this fall at 2220 California St. in Denver, Solutions Lounge & Restaurant is the first and only escape room that also includes a bar and full restaurant. This 6,100-square-foot, multifac - eted event space features seven escape rooms along with a restaurant and bar that focuses on cheese-centric cuisine and themed cocktails.

Opening in December 2017 by RiNo’s new commuter rail station on the A Line, the 100,000-square-foot Zeppelin Station boasts a ground-level market hall featuring retail ten - ants focused on design goods, various street food vendors, multiple bars and a full-service anchor restaurant. RiNo Arts District also has its headquarters at Zeppelin Station alongside a dynamic retail space showcasing local artisans.

Chef Adam Vero joined Hearth & Dram in Denver as executive chef last year and recruited Jeff Hickman as his chef de cuisine. Both previously worked for TAG Restaurant Group, also located in Denver. The duo has created inventive new menus at Hearth & Dram and reimagined the “Whole Beast Feast,” a group dining event for 10-12 participants that is designed to showcase the eatery’s nose-to-tail philosophy. Five to seven courses are prepared on a sevenfoot, wood-fired grill and served family style to highlight the team’s culinary abilities and no-waste philosophy.
