Colorado’s meeting and event industry associations also are champions of good causes, including the National Association of Catering and Events - Greater Denver Chapter’s first-ever Bunks to Backpacks on Aug. 8 at Four Mile Historic Park from 4 – 9 p.m.
In recent years, Colorado ski resorts have found unique ways to transform into busy summer and fall playgrounds and ideal spots for group gatherings and activities, and the state’s Nordic centers are doing the same. The Colorado Cross Country Ski Association, representing 19 family- and group-friendly ski centers and guest ranches that have a combined total of more than 850 km of ski and snowshoe trails, shared these ideas for great summer base camps for golf, adventures, events and more.
In a follow-up email for the 17th annual Meetings Industry Council of Colorado Educational Conference & Trade Show held March 14 and 15 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, organizers attributed the record sellout attendance of 1,200 to “a perfect storm of collaboration.” I like that description and find that it also perfectly describes the 11th annual Colorado Meetings + Events magazine’s Best of Colorado readers’ choice
Several hotels are opening on the Front Range, significant renovations are happening at properties around the state, the Colorado Tourism Office’s press release on what’s new for summer is multiple pages long and the restaurants launching just seem to get more creative and find their own unique niches. These are exciting times in Colorado. Here’s just a few new things that stood out recently, and make sure to watch for the Spring and Summer 2017 issues of Colorado Meetings + Events. Colorado is known as a state that stays in motion, not only in health and fitness but also for the meetings and events industry. After 12 years as editor, of Colorado Meetings + Events, I am no longer surprised at the state’s ingenuity but the amount of new venues, restaurants and hotels launching in the Denver metro area now and in the future has definitely caught my attention. Here are just a few highlights, and watch our Spring 2017 issue and website for more!
Finding a venue is one of the first decisions a meeting planner makes. Its size and location can make a big impact on meeting attendance. The Sheraton Tysons Hotel—managed by Crescent Hotels & Resorts—located outside of Washington, DC, is helping planners choose by offering a package for planners booking through 2020.
Hotel Teatro in Denver has been recognized as the top hotel of the 25 Top Hotels in the West from Condé Nast Traveler’s 29th annual Reader’s Choice Awards. In celebration, Hotel Teatro is releasing its Top of Teatro package, where guests can receive unlimited top-shelf champagne and accommodations in The Chancellor Room, the top guestroom, during their stay. The hotel offers 110 guest rooms, 5,000 square feet of meeting and event space, The Nickel, the hotel’s restaurant, and The Study, the hotel’s coffee bar and breakfast lounge.
Kindred Resorts & Hotels has just added five properties to it's roster. Currently, the company has 56 properties; the additions include: Amangani, High Hampton Inn & Country Club, Rancho de los Caballeros, Sea Island and Sun Mountain Lodge.
