Fire Pits & Fireplaces Create a Colorado-Classic Atmosphere

There is something about circling around a fire, whether a more controlled experience like fire pits and fireplaces or natural and wild in the form of a campfire or bonfire. We’re not sure, but here’s a glimpse at some of the coolest yet hottest fire settings and performers in the state.

I love September and the hint of fall it brings along with the bounty from my garden. While a full-blown explosion of color is getting underway in Colorado’s high country, it’s harvest time galore in gardens planted a little lower in elevation. My tomatoes and peppers are producing at a good clip so it’s salsa-making time, my son and his friend picked a couple backpacks full of apples for apple crisp and apple butter, and what to do with all the cucumbers?

Renovation Reviews

There have been several top-to-bottom hotel renovations in Colorado over the last year, and I’ve been getting out and about to see them as time allows. Each summer my family enjoys the Crested Butte to Aspen hike over West Maroon Pass, so it was a perfect chance to experience the St. Regis Aspen, which was classy before but went to ultra sophisticated in a comfortable way. For an outdoor event, the large Fountain Courtyard is hard to beat along with a nicely secluded and renovated outdoor pool and adjoining Mountain Plaza.
